BECKY KUEK
BECKY KUEK (郭金玫) founded Mooncake in 2018 and is a multi-genre TV Director, Writer and Producer with a strength for crafting compelling stories powered by a meaningful message. Her stories are heartfelt and hilarious, and she believes the audience is the most important part of every project.
Becky is Chinese-Malaysian/Pākehā, Australian-born to Kiwi parents and has lived in Australia, Vietnam, New Zealand and the UK. Having trained and honed her storytelling skills in Auckland, London, Sydney and Los Angeles, Becky spent 10 years acting in theatre, film and TV while planning her Writer/Director pivot.
From 2019-21 Becky produced, directed, wrote, edited and starred in two seasons of hit animated children's series, Tales of Nai Nai. She then directed and co-wrote the live-action comedy series Long x Xia, and has helped make many other Kiwi series across live-action, animation, scripted and factual.
Becky is passionate about empowering underrepresented creatives and building a sustainable and safe future for the industry. She was awarded the New Zealand Film Commission Gender Scholarship in 2020, was a NZ Writers Guild board member from 2021-24, and is represented by Frank Management.
